Sorts of hosting solutions

A hosting solution appertains to depositing and/or sharing certain web content on a server hosted by a website hosting distributor. There are different types of hosting services utilized for different aims, so let's take a gaze at these. In this way, you can conclude what you need, depending on whether you'd like to have a site, e-mail aliases, or to share files with buddies and associates.

- File hosting: a solution made available by various vendors, which lets you share large files. These could be disk images, films, audio files, archived documents, and so on. This service is also known as file storage, and its only purpose is to share files, since it does not support web page uploading. Once the files are uploaded, you will either get a randomly created download link for each of them, or you will be able to survey an index of all the files in a directory, but you will not be able to open .html or .php web site files in your browser. Free file hosting plans are frequently supported by exhibiting adverts by the download links, while a timer compels you to await a certain period of time to view them. A single file can be downloaded with limited speed. If you run a paid file hosting account, there are no restrictions as to how many files you can upload/download right away, and also there is no limitation when it comes to the download speed or the file size.

At present, with the assistance of the cPanel hosting traders, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more modish "cloud hosting". This is a thoroughly unsuitable explanation of the real definition of "cloud hosting". An actual cloud website hosting platform would allocate the tasks at hand between individual hosts of servers in a cluster, which are committed to attending miscellaneous hosting services (email, data storage, statistics, DNS, databases, web hosting CP, etc.) So, the file hosting solution is simply a sort of a data storage hosting service, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even close.

- Image hosting: close to file hosting; some providers provide a hosting solution for pictures solely. This hosting kind is appropriate if you want to share a huge number of pics with chums or associates since the service is commonly free. You will obtain a random link for each pic or album and you can then share this link. As with the file storage solution, .html and .php files are not compatible, so the solution cannot be used for web pages.

- E-mail hosting: a solution committed to handling your email address accounts. Some firms provide web space hosting solutions for sites, but do not offer an e-mail hosting solution. If you would like to manage an email address with your domain name but do not want to keep a site, then the email hosting solution is what you want. You can set up electronic mail accounts and administer them, but there will be no web solution for the domains. The e-mail hosting service involves incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP mail servers.

- Video hosting: this solution allows you to upload and share video clips. You can either share a link to a certain video, or you can embed the video clip in your website that is hosted elsewhere. The benefit of using this approach in lieu of uploading the video clip in a web hosting account is that the video file brings about a certain amount of CPU load, so with a few video clips and several hundred viewers, you may have a hard time with your site hosting resources. Embedding the video clip will enable you to manage as many videos as you want to without hassling about system resources.

- Web page hosting: this is the solution that you need if you wish to run a website. To some extent, it embodies all of the aforementioned hosting types since, along with your web pages, you can also host pics and files, you can keep databases and e-mail accounts, upload video clips, etc. At Smartway Hosting, for example, you can have a peek at web hosting and dedicated server hosting packages that permit you to have all of the aforesaid services in one single location. There may be restrictions depending on the sort of hosting solution that you've selected - a free hosting account, a paid shared hosting plan, a VPS or a dedicated server. Depending on that, your site hosting package may be better or worse juxtaposed to the ordinary e-mail/file/video/image hosting packages that are devised for particular content only.
